If A Company Is Employing You:

Either the company you had been working for is transferring you to its branch in South Africa from India or a South Africa-based company is employing you from India to come over to handle a project. Two types of visa are applicable to you – the intra-company transfer visa or the corporate visa.

Intra-Company Transfer Visa

This visa is for workers who are transferred from an overseas office to a subsidiary, affiliate, or branch in South Africa. The visa permits such people to reside and work in South Africa for up to two years. The visa also permits the spouse and children of the employee. However, the spouse won’t be allowed to work and the children would only be allowed to go to school using a study visa.

Corporate Work Visa

This visa is for foreign workers who are employed by South Africa-based companies for certain positions and for a specific period. The major benefit of this visa is that the employers provide for many of its requirements.

If You Are Immigrating To South Africa To Get Work As An Individual:

Critical Skills Work Visa

This visa is based on a list of jobs that need skills in South Africa. However, if you haven’t been offered a job when you apply for the visa, you have at most 12 months from the time your visa is issued to get a job. Though this visa is valid for only five years, it can lead to an immediate permanent residency if the holder meets some certain criteria.

General Work Visa

This type of visa applies if you have been offered a job by an employer in South Africa. The employer must be able to prove that he or she had made efforts to first employ a South African for the position. This type of visa is usually valid for up to four years.
